Greyhound Planet Day

Greyhound Planet Day

Greyhound Planet is a day chosen each year to honor the Greyhound and its relatives (Galgos, lurchers, etc.) throughout the world. The purpose of this international event is to raise the public's awareness of the wonder and magic of Greyhounds as pets, educate others on the current status of Greyhounds around the world and to honor those Greyhounds who have left us already.

This year, Rev. Melissa Bitting lead us through the Blessing of the Hounds and the Memorial Balloon release - 100 balloons filled the air in memory of our furkids. The usual festivities were on hand - nail trimming, microchipping (by Dr. Soileau and Amanda Thomas), and Billy Buttons. There were also plenty of items to purchase with offerings by the GreytStore, Star Smelker, Lorna Harper, and Sammye Conway. For the greyhounds, we added the Greyt Bone Hunt (everyone got to keep the treats they found) and three swimming pools which were very popular. Fabulous raffle items were up for grabs and there was breakfast for the humans and frosty paws for the hounds.

Amidst all of these festivities, there were a lot of new faces as well as old visiting and just enjoying this casual gathering.

Congratulations to our raffle and Greyt Bone Hunt winners:
